Daily screen time dropped by almost 2 hours after one week with Steppin.

How Steppin works

01

Pick your apps

Choose what to lock. Instagram, TikTok, whatever is eating your day.

02

Set your rate

100 steps buys a minute by default. Make it easier or harder, your call.

03

Walk, then scroll

Your phone counts the steps. Apps unlock as you earn them.

Why other screen time apps stop working

Blockers punish you. You hit a wall, you feel bad, you delete the app. Steppin does the opposite. There is no wall, just a price, and the price is a walk. That is why people are still using it a month later instead of uninstalling it on day three.

What people say

"It's not preaching, like you need to do 10,000 steps. It's clever because it doesn’t make me feel like I have to… the alternative’s to say, I'm just not going to look at those apps today."

Tim T.

"Steppin makes me think—‘I didn’t work for this.’ I need to go for a walk or do something active to earn my screen time and be mindful about it."

Cheyenne H

“Even just doing laundry or housework, I’m earning steps. Right away, I saw I could allocate my time differently. It’s motivated me to get up and move earlier instead of procrastinating.

Nicole E

"It’s stopped me from immediately jumping on my phone—LinkedIn, TikTok, whatever. Instead, I get up, focus on my kids, walk the dog, and then settle in."

Chris M.

Private by default

No account. No sign-up. No email. Your steps and screen time never leave your phone, because there is no server for them to go to. Every other app in this category wants a login and your usage history. We want neither.

Questions

Is Steppin free?

Yes, completely. There is no paid tier, no subscription, and no trial that expires.

Why use step count to manage screen time?

Because it puts the decision outside your phone. A timer is just your phone negotiating with itself, and you always win that argument. Steps are real, they happen in the world, and they cost you something. That is what makes the trade stick when a countdown does not.

How does Steppin count my steps?

It uses the step tracking already built into your phone, or your fitness tracker through Apple Health or Health Connect. No extra hardware.

What happens in an emergency?

You can override any lock instantly. Steppin is not a parental control and it never traps you out of your own phone.

How is this different from a screen time blocker?

Blockers cut you off at a limit. Steppin gives you a way to earn time back, so the app is a trade rather than a punishment.

Is Steppin on Android?
